How I’m Keeping the Studio Safe | Frederick Maryland Newborn Photographer | Katie Ballantine Photography

COVID-19 is here and certainly creating concerns in all areas of life these days. Running a safe studio has always been a top priority of mine, and it’s even more important now that a new virus is here changing our lives. Here are just a few ways I’m working to keep myself and my clients safe.

Vaccinated

I believe the best way I can keep myself, my family, and my wonderful clients safe is to be vaccinated against diseases. I get all of my vaccines and am also vaccinated against COVID-19. Data is showing that vaccinated individuals do not pass the virus onto others. Vaccinated people also do not need to quarantine of exposed to COVID-19.

Disinfecting, Washing, and Laundering

I am a self proclaimed germaphobe, and I have been for years. Taking the time to disinfect surfaces has always been on my mind, and it is even more so now with the pandemic. I have Lysol Wipes and disinfecting sprays that are used on all hard surfaces in my studio and the bathroom that clients have access to. I also change out hand towels before and after each session, so you always know you have a clean, laundered towel in my bathroom.

In addition to disinfecting hard surfaces, I have ALWAYS washed and dried wraps, blankets, and other cloth materials that are used between sessions. Rest assured… your baby has clean items for their use. I also do not ever allow more than one session per day, so that there is time for all of this cleaning and airing out.

Hand sanitizer is available at the front of my home, as well as in the studio. I use hand sanitizer throughout the session, and I start each session by washing my hands in soap and water. I also have clients remove shoes at the door so that no outside germs are being brought into the studio through shoes.

Aired Out

A few hours before your session in the studio, I make sure to open the windows and the door to the room to air it out. Fresh air is a great way to reduce the risk of germs that are airborne.

Masks On

When clients come to the house for a session, I make sure I always have a mask on for the entire session. Masks are one of the top ways to keep your germs to yourself, so parents, children, and I all need to wear a mask while in my home together. Babies and newborns do not need to wear a mask.

When it’s an adult or child’s turn for pictures, masks are removed for those shots and then go back on afterward while it’s someone else’s turn.

If you forget a mask, I have some available for your use.

I can’t wait to start working with you to deliver gorgeous portraits in a safe environment. Find out more about sessions @ this link.
