F.A.Q.

FILM F.A.Q.

Why do you add film to your sessions?

Film has a way of capturing light that cannot be replicated with a digital camera. It can save highlights and show details in shadow that digital cameras cannot do. The colors that come from the film are also so beautiful.

Film gives a perfectly imperfect result that is refreshing in this digital age. Say goodbye to overly perfect and overly smoothed & edited portraits.

Your portraits will feel REAL and three dimensional in a way you will love.

What will my images look like?

Perfectly Imperfect

*For those people who love to zoom in and “pixel peep” at the clarity of their images, film isn’t for you! One of my favorite parts of film photography is how imperfect it is!

Film cameras are OLD, so they don’t have the technology in them that new mirrorless and DSLR cameras have in them. Some images may have some blur or be slightly out of focus. It’s not about the technically perfect picture. It’s about how you feel viewing the image as art.

Film images have grain in them, which is a special characteristic of film photography. It gives images that warm, nostalgic look instead of the overly smooth and perfected digital look.

Will I still get digital copies of film images?

Absolutely!

After we have our session, I will carefully gather our used film and get it to my professional lab. My lab handles the developing and scanning of the film into digital copies, so you can print and share them just like the digital photographs.

Does film work in every situation?

Nope!

Film LOVES light, so it is best used when there is a lot of window light or sunlight available. For times when there isn’t much light, I still use my professional digital camera to deliver a beautiful gallery.
