Cake Smash

  • Elijah is ONE

Elijah came to the studio to celebrate his 1st birthday, and we had such a fun time! He’s the happiest little guy and a joy to work with. We started with portraits and ended with smashing cake. Happy Birthday, Elijah! Shot on a mix of digital and film (Portra400).

Can My Baby Do A Cake Smash During A Session? Cake smashes are a wonderful addition to a one-year-old birthday session. The first birthday is such a perfect milestone to document. I start out these sessions in the studio or outdoors with portraits of the baby alone in special outfits brought my parents. After the portraits of baby, I move onto pictures of the one year old with family members. I capture them snuggling, playing, interacting, and take some casually posed images. But the end… that’s when the real fun begins. Parents are more than welcome to bring along a small cake for a smash at the end. Some one…

  • Amelia is ONE | Frederick MD Baby Photographer

I’ve had an entire year of photographing Amelia, and I’ve loved every single session!  It’s so fun when parents participate in the Watch Me Grow Package because I get to capture the babies from fresh newborns to mobile one-year-olds.  Every stage is so much fun.  3 month olds have big smiles, 6 month olds are sitting up and laughing, 9 month olds are really interactive and sometimes crawling around my studio.  One year sessions often end in a cake smash, and it’s so much fun to watch them dig in.  Amelia decided that exploring her cake with her feet was the safest option.  It was adorable!

Sweet Piper is turning ONE soon, and I loved having her back in my studio.  She’s even more adorable now than she was at 6 months!  At first, she wanted nothing to do with my tent, but by the end, she was playing peek-a-boo in there with her Daddy.  So sweet!  We finished up the portraits with the cake smash, and it was adorable!
